Dreaming is the best part of the night. You get to go into atotally unrealistic world and live an unrealistic lifestyle with noconsequences. Or, if you have a very realistic (bad) dream, youwake up terrified and can't go back to sleep. That's a bummer,dude.
I often entertain my friends with my odd and crazy dreams.Sometimes I consider writing my crazy dreams down to make a moviescript. Unfortunately, not all the scenes are clear and I'm notsure how to fill in the blanks. Then I just end up with variousscenes that don't make any sense.
Naturally, the word dream has more than one meaning. Other thanthe overnight movies in your head, there are the dreams of thefuture ... what you want to be when you grow up. Or, you dreamabout the perfect love. The all powerful dictionary.com has sixmeanings of the word. Pick your favorite use.
Musicians use the word dream for songs. There are dozens of songtitles that are, or include the word, dream. Groups including VanHalen, Fleetwood Mac, and the Cranberries to solo artists TravisTritt, Elvis Presley, and Otis Redding have recorded songs aboutdreams. Dreams are powerful things.
There are also people that take dreams very seriously. Dozens ofbooks can be found interpreting dreams. There are some books thathave very different meanings for one dream than other books. Oneconstant I've found, however, is that dreams having to do withstorms and water represent financial trouble. Oh, if I only had adime for every dream representing financial trouble. Then the waterdreams would stop.
I often dream of flying. According to dreammoods.com, that meansI'm feeling liberated in a place I once felt confined. But havingblack wings signifies bitter disappointments. Funny, I've never hadwings in my flying dreams; but I do have to take a running startand use swimming motions to stay up.
"Follow your dreams" is a very common saying, especially whenyou are starting to "spread your wings" (we hope they aren'tblack). Now, if you apply this to meaning number five ondictionary.com (an aspiration), then you're good to go. The examplethey use is, "to dream of owning their own business." I can't tellyou how often that's been my dream. Usually it's a bar.
However, there's a slight difference between that saying and,"make your dreams come true." If you want to make a dream cometrue, it might be one you've had while sleeping. How many peopledon't want the (night) dream of dating a super model to come true?Very few. But there are also the dreams when you're being chases bya large insect that wants to have you for dinner that you don'twant to come true. I had a dream over the weekend about zombies.That would be a no, thank you, to come true.
Overall, dreams are an important part of life. Whether you wantto date the super model, open your own business or avoid flyinginsects, you can't avoid them.
Some people don't remember what they dream at night. I hopethey're forgetting bad dreams. I would hate for someone to miss outon being a millionaire.
