Last week, Ball State's men's golf team traveled to Michigan to compete in the Michigan Collegiate. The team, led by juniors Brandon Boomsma and Patrick Wilkes-Krier (who both shot a 225 over the three-day event) struggled on the third day of the meet, and finished 14th. They shot 297-295-306 for a total of 898, 27 strokes behind tri-champions Wisconsin, Purdue and Memphis.

Head coach Mike Fleck's team travels to Wisconsin this weekend to compete in the two-day event, the Northern Collegiate. Outside of Boomsma and Wilkes-Krier, sophomores Wayne Denger and C.D. Hockersmith and senior Bud Graessle also competed at Michigan. Of the three, Hockersmith posted the best score, shooting a 75-75-76 for a total of 226. All five are expected to participate in the Northern Collegiate this weekend.

Possible additions to the lineup include seniors Mike Kasula and Lance School, junior Ryan Hungate or sophomores Kyle Cox, Andy Skillman and Austin Steele.

The Northern Collegiate will feature 13 teams competing on September 18-19. They will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday.

Teams from the Big Ten, MAC, and Conference-USA will join Wisconsin during this event. After this weekend, Fleck's team has three more meets in their fall schedule; the Cardinals play at Louisville on Sept. 27-28, play host at the Delaware Country Club on Oct. 4-5, and finish at Xavier on October 11-12.
