MEN'S GOLF: BSU falls at final round of Michigan invite

Ball State's final round at the Michigan Intercollegiate wastheir worst, falling from a tie for ninth to last place. TheCardinals final round totaled 306, the worst total for any of thecompeting teams, and the second worst in the invite, behindUNC-Wilmington's 307 stroke opening round.

The Cardinals finished 14th over all, behind Indiana schoolsPurdue, who tied for the win, and Indiana, who tied for ninth, andthe Mid-American Conference's Miami, who tied for ninth.

The Cardinals struggled, ending 34 above par with a final scoreof 898.

The Cards were led by Brandon Boomsma and Patrick Wilkes-Krier,who tied for 45th with a stroke total of 225. CD Hockersmith camein 50th overall with a total of 226, while the Cardinals wererounded out by Wayne Denger and Bud Graessle, who both tied for67th with a final total of 230.

The invite was the first of the Cardinals' young season, and theseason will continue next weekend in Madison, Wisc. at theUniversity Ridge Golf Course when the Cardinals will head to theNorthern Collegiate.
