With fall weather approaching, many Ball State students seek newclothing for the cooler temperatures to come. While new brand nameclothing may be appealing, it has a tendency to be a bit pricey. Toavoid blowing all their money on new clothes, many students stoppedin the student center on Monday to check out the deals that BrandName Warehouse has to offer.
Brand Name Warehouse is a company that offers new, name-brandclothing at discount prices. Some of the more popular brands thatcan be seen in the ballroom of the student center are Express,Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, Victoria Secret and LaneBryant. The ballroom is packed with clothing for men and women in avariety of sizes (they have everything from size zero to size 28),colors and fits. The prices range from $1.99 to the most expensiveitems (outerwear) which are priced at $24.99. Jeans average$14.99.
Sophomore Paul Best was on his way to Cardinal Crossing to getsome lunch when he saw the sign advertising the sale on the door ofthe student center. Best said he decided to go upstairs to see whatthey had to offer.
Junior Jeffery Peacock found out about the sale by reading anadvertisement for it in the Daily News. Peacock stated thatthe sale was appealing because of the convenient location and thediscount prices.
Junior Erica Peters was informed about the sale after a friendof hers went earlier in the day and bought a belt for $2. Thefriend then told her and her other friends to go to the studentcenter to get good deals.
The man behind the clothes, Bill Bunner, stated that he expectsanywhere from 3000 to 3500 students to stop by this week. Bunnersaid the response has been very good. So good, in fact, after onlyone day of business Bunner is already planning on making a tripback to Muncie in February to sell more discount clothes.
Some items that are going fast are women's jeans and $3 VictoriaSecret bras, he said.
"At the rate we are selling, someone will have to make a run toget more," Bunner said.
He also expects to have some items restocked aroundWednesday.
Best stated that he did not know how their prices were going tobe when he went into the sale.
"I spent less and got a lot more than I expected. I got fourties, three pairs of socks, and two belts for about $25," Bestsaid.
Peters only expected to spend about $20 or less, but ended upspending $50. "The [deals] exceeded my expectations. There were somany to choose from," she said.
"I know Express makes quality clothing so I knew that whatever Ipurchased, it was going to be some of the best around," Bestsaid.
This is Brand Name Warehouses' first year to sell at Ball State.Ball State has been the eighth school this year that Brand NameWarehouse has traveled to.
"We travel all over to do event sales. We have been doing thisfor about four or five years now," Bunner said.
The sale will be going from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. throughThursday. Picky shoppers can also use the dressing room made out ofcardboard boxes to check to see if they found the right size.
"We do not have a real fitting room, but that does not stoppeople from trying clothes on," Bunner said.
"The architect school here wouldn't be very impressed by theempty stacked cardboard boxes for a dressing room," he said.
