The Fine Arts Alumni Society will hold the 4th annual Indy ArtWalk on Sept. 16. The Walk will be on Massachusetts Avenue in theIndianapolis arts district and will feature the University Singers,the Ball State Jazz Ensemble and the student improv group "Reflex."The event will also boast samplings of food, local art and drinksin a friendly atmosphere, according to the Alumni Association.
Despite being an Alumni-focused event, the Alumni Associationencourages students to attend the Art Walk.
"It's a pretty laid-back atmosphere," Assistant Director of theAlumni Association Kate Webber said, "but there's always theopportunity to mingle with the Alumni."
The College of Architecture and Planning, the Department ofFamily and Consumer Sciences and the Department of Journalism willeach have a table for their alumni to gather.
Students can chat with the alumni as well as see the artgalleries and sample the food and beverages, according to theAlumni Association.
"The Arts Walk is one of our most successful events. We hadabout two hundred people last year," said Webber.
Registration and the Martini Reception last from 5 p.m. until 6p.m. at the Historical Firefighters Museum on Massachusetts Avenue.The Alumni Association encourages alumni and friends to attend theBall State Jazz Ensemble's set at the Rathskeller beginning at 8p.m. The Abbey Coffeehouse, Aesop's Tables and the Dean JohnsonGallery are a few of the area merchants who will host participantsin the Art Walk.
