The Ball State field hockey team battled Indiana to a 3-3 tieSunday in a preseason scrimmage.
The host Cardinals were guided by two of its three seniors;Chantelle Issac scored two goals and Jen Strodel one.
Issac scored the Cards' first goal toward the end of the firstperiod. In the second period, she added another goal, assisted byfreshman Lauren Cruz.
Strodel scored the third and final goal of the game with justover a minute to play in the second period, set up by MaggieDurbin's assist.
Tracy Bannister and Jessie Malone split time in goal, with eachrecording one save. Bannister, a junior and the returning starter,recorded the second-best goals against average in the Mid-AmericanConference last year.
Ball State will begin its regular season Saturday, Aug. 28against Northeastern in Athens, Ohio. The team faces Indiana againon Sept. 3 in Bloomington.
