Former-Ball State University pitcher Bryan Bullington had ashort-lived performance in the All-Star Futures game, but it wasfor the better. Although he only pitched one inning at Houston'sMinute Maid Park, he retired all three batters.
The top overall pick in the 2002 Major League draft was among 10pitchers chosen from the minor leagues to play on the U.S. team,which defeated the World team 4-3 on Sunday.
Bullington currently plays for the Altoona Curve, the AAaffiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He pitched the sixth inning of the seven-inning contest and sawhis first batter ground out, the second strike out and the thirdfly out.
Bullington will use his experience at the Futures game as a wayto help propel him into the big leagues.
"I'm off to a decent start," Bullington said. "I'm feelingpretty good about it. Everything's starting to come together."
