TRACK Panning named Academic All-District

After recently being named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference track and field team, senior Paul Panning was selected to the Academic All-District V Team. He will become eligible for Academic All-America, which is announced later this month.

As a management and information systems major, Panning holds a 3.42 grade point average.

Panning is already an All-American in the pole vault and will look to become a two-time All-American this week when he competes in the NCAA Championships.

Last season he placed eighth at the NCAA Championships and comes into this year's competition ranked seventh in the nation.

Panning won the MAC outdoor championship this year with a height of 16 feet, 10 3/4 inches. He later shattered that mark at the NCAA Regionals with a vault of 17 feet, 11 inches to give him a third place finish and a school record.

He also holds the indoor school record in the pole vault and is only the fourth outdoor NCAA All-American in school history.
