LETTER: Ball State students effect Muncie in positive way

Dear Editor,

Due to all the recent negative attention directed toward BSU students in The Star Press, I feel compelled to express these personal observations. We are so lucky to have the university and its students in Muncie. Students bring an endless supply of resources and valuable qualities such as enthusiasm, tolerance and hope to our city. The benefits are immeasurable and far outweigh the difficulties. It is hard to imagine Muncie without BSU students.

Students have affected my life in almost every aspect. They have been my classmates, students, neighbors, daughters' teachers/coaches, renters, babysitters, employees and friends, to name a few. My experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. They are some of the finest people I have met, each wanting to learn and better themselves in some way.

I hope that BSU students will feel welcome in our community and feel appreciated for all the goodness they do. Thank you.

Doug Struewing
