The DAILY NEWS and expo were honored at the annual Indiana Collegiate Press Association spring convention Saturday.
The DAILY NEWS won Division One Newspaper of the year and expo won News Magazine of the Year, among other awards. The DAILY NEWS placed second in Best Online Publication.
Jon Seidel, managing editor for the DAILY NEWS, received the Brook Baker Collegiate Journalist of the Year for his coverage of the Michael McKinney shooting and funeral.
Monica Yant Kinney, columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, judged the contest.
"It's clear Jon is a talented writer," Kinney wrote. "But it's also evident, from his entry materials and from the glowing letters of recommendation, that he's been an inspirational leader for his staff at the DAILY NEWS."
