CD REVIEW: Daft Punk 'Daft Club'

Recent Release

p>*** out of five

In a creative marketing effort, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo -- the two robots behind Daft Punk -- enclosed a Daft Club card in each copy of their second release, "Discovery." After entering the card number online, listeners could download exclusive new and remixed tracks from the group. For those of you who missed the opportunity, all 14 songs are now available on CD. High points include the Neptune's remix of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," Slum Village's remix of "Aerodynamic," and the unplugged version of "One More Time," all of which could outplay the originals. Other tracks seem to drag on like remixes usually do, especially the Demon remix of "Face to Face." This is not Daft Punk for beginners, but for fans, it's definitely a club worth joining.
