ALCOHOL: SGA vice president ticketed for minor consumption Sunday morning

Olufunmbi Elemo, 19, denies being confronted by police

Law enforcement officials said the vice president of the Student Government Association was cited for underage drinking at a weekend fraternity party. However, she strongly denies being cited.

"I completely remember yesterday evening, and I'm saying to you that I was not cited," Olufunmbi Elemo, 19, said. "I do not recall it because it did not happen."

Jesse Neal, Delaware County Drug Task Force officer, said Officer David Spence cited Elemo for minor consuming.

Elemo said she was at a party at Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity Saturday night, but said she left with her friends when the police arrived.

Neal said he spoke with Spence and was told Elemo showed the officer her Ball State ID.

Neal said Spence was able to give him a physical description of Elemo and her birth date. Neal confirmed the officer's information with the citation ticket, he said. To be sure, Neal said he sent one of his officers back to the police department to double check the ticket Sunday evening.

Elemo said she remembers walking past police officers but said she did not show her identification.

"I know how completely horrid this sounds," Elemo said, "All I can say is that I did not get cited."

Neal said Elemo, like the other 86 students cited at the party, will need to appear in the city court at 8:30 a.m. on April 13.

"I'm completely shocked," Elemo said. "It's false."
