The Indianapolis Colts will hold their first day of a three-day minicamp at Ball State Stadium Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event is open to the public for the cost of $5 per person with the exception of children 12 and under, who get in free.
Ticket manager Joe Carr said the athletic department has sold 1,600 tickets so far and has no idea how many more will be sold, since this is a first-time event.
Frank Sabatine, dean of the school of extended education, who played a role in helping bring the Colts to Muncie, said he has three goals for the practice.
"First and foremost I want this to be a positive family and community experience for Muncie and East Central Indiana," Sabatine said.
He also hopes it will raise interest in Ball State Football and help the Colts gain more season-ticket holders.
Fans shouldn't be afraid to come out because of the weather. The Colts have assured Ball State they will practice unless there is a tornado or bad lightning, Sabatine said.
Colts players won't be the only ones in attendance. Colts in Motion, an interactive tour, along with the Colts cheerleaders and Ball State Cheerleaders and Code Red Dancers will also be on hand.
"It's a great opportunity to showcase NFL football in Muncie, Ind.," athletics director Bubba Cunningham said after the practice was originally announced. "It allows our campus community to really build some enthusiasm for the fall. As a Division I-A football institution, it's great for our players to see the NFL players on their field, in their stadium and on the Ball State campus."
