MEN'S BASKETBALL Stovall named to All-Freshman Team

Ball State point guard Peyton Stovall was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team on Monday. He is the eighth Cardinals player to named to the team and first since Theron Smith won freshman of the Year in 2000.

Stovall finished second behind Toledo point guard Justin Ingram for Freshman of the Year. Joining them on the All-Freshman Team are Buffalo center Yassin Idbihi, Ohio swingman Sonny Troutman and Akron forward Jeremiah Wood.

Stovall is averaging 7.4 points and 3.7 assists, including 8.8 points in league play. He is also the first freshman to lead the team in assists and steals since Scott Nichols in 1987. His minutes-per-game average is the highest of any freshman in the league.
