MEN'S BASKETBALL McCollom on Academic All-MAC Team

Men's basketball starting guard Matt McCollom was named to the2004 Academic All-Mid-American Conference First Team on Wednesday.The junior from Mt. Zion, Ill., was selected based on his 3.58grade-point average in business. He was one of five players namedto the team by the MAC's Faculty Athletic Representatives. McCollomis joined on the team by Akron's Andy Hipsher, Western Michigan'sBrian Snider and Buffalo's Turner Battle and Mark Bortz.

McCollom was also named to the 2003 Academic All-MAC First Team,making him the third Cardinal to be named to the team twice. He isthe seventh Ball State player to make the first team.

Ball State forward Cameron Echols was named to the 2004 All-MACHonorable Mention Team, as chosen by the league's 13 head coaches.It is his first all-league selection. Echols led the Cardinals inrebounding for a second time, grabbing six boards a game. He alsoaveraged 10.8 points a game in his senior season.
