HARFORD SHOOTING Police continue to search for suspect

The Muncie Police Department continued to search Wednesday for the third suspect involved in the death of sophomore Karl Harford.

Investigators were working throughout the night to find Damien Blaine Sanders, 21. Earlier in the day, Police Chief Joe Winkle said at least one solid tip the investigators were given had fallen through.

On Monday, police arrested Brandon Patterson, 18, and a 14-year-old juvenile suspect. Patterson, who was charged with murder, apparently told police it was one of the other suspects that pulled the trigger.

The juvenile has only been charged with assisting a criminal.

Harford, a pre-business major from Carmel, was found Sunday afternoon in the backseat of his car on the east side of Muncie. Early that morning, he left a house party with Patterson, Sanders and the juvenile. According to police documents, the suspects stole $2 in cash from Harford's pockets before one of them shot him in the head.

Muncie Police have asked anyone with information about Sanders' location to call 747-4867.
