'Chocolate Extravaganza' awaits campus residents and visitors this weekend

Students, faculty, parents and friends can enjoy three buffet tables of chocolate desserts March 7 at Ball State's Allegre Restaurant.

The "Chocolate Extravaganza" is in two sessions from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are available for $15 per person and $10 per student, Lois Altman, associate professor of family and consumer sciences, said. Tickets will not be sold at the door, she said.

"This way we can guarantee we won't run out of seats," Altman said.

The chocolate event is a fund raiser for the Hospitality and Food Management Association that will help the organization send students to the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago, she said.

The event will be a good experience for the catering, hospitality and food management students, Altman said.

"The catering students need to know how to make high-quality products in a high quantity," she said. "The hospitality students learn about marketing for events."

Jeffrey Mallow, senior and guitarist, will entertain at both sessions, she said.

"It's a very relaxed and laid-back afternoon," Altman said. "Everybody has a smile."
