WOMEN'S TENNIS BSU prepares to take on Dayton, win respect

Coach Bull expects, looks foreward to a tough match from Flyers

A week and a half ago the Cardinals easily took care of IPFW and Wright State's women's tennis teams, not dropping a single set to either team. After taking last weekend off, Coach Kathy Bull doesn't want her team to expect a cakewalk this weekend against Dayton.

"I want my team to really respect Dayton and expect a strong match, more so than last weekend, from top to bottom," she said.

The Dayton Flyers (2-1) came to Muncie to face the Cardinals (2-0) in the Fall for the Ball State Invitational, where Ball State went 5-1 against Dayton in singles and 1-0 in doubles. Bull said that the past few days the team has been preparing for Dayton.

"With the weekend off we were a little lackadaisical on our preparation for competition," Bull said.

"I think they've got more depth than what Wright State and IPFW and they will challenge us and maybe show some of our weakness and that's what we need," she said. "I anticipate that and look forward to that challenge."

The Cardinals are trying to improve from last year, when they had a 10-12 overall record, and Bull sees some progress.

"I'm just really pleased with our fitness and strength training," she said. "I think it's showing in how we hit the ball."

The Cardinals face off against Dayton at 4 p.m. today at the Northside YMCA.
