MEN'S BASKETBALL Ball State looks for season sweep of Miami in televised contest

After just one day of rest, Ball State hits the court again when it plays host to Miami at 8 p.m. today in Worthen Arena. The game will be broadcast by Fox Sports Net television.

The Cardinals (7-6 Mid-American Conference, 10-11 overall) squeaked past Northern Illinois 67-62 on Saturday for their second road victory of the season. Miami (8-4, 12-8) has won five of its last seven contests. Ball State ended an 11-game losing streak at Oxford, Ohio with a 56-50 win on Jan. 17, and coach Tim Buckley expects another close matchup with the RedHawks tonight.

"It seems every game we've had with them is like that," he said.

However, Buckley said he hopes it isn't quite as low-scoring as the last affair, when Matt McCollom's 3-pointer with one minute remaining broke a 48-48 tie and propelled BSU to the win.

"It depends on the amount of possessions," he said. "Both teams are good defensively."

Miami leads the MAC in allowing just 59.9 points per game, while Ball State ranks sixth with a yield of 69.8.
