LETTER: Ball State should update, not replace

Dear Editor,

I agree with the Daily News' stance on the constructionof a new student center. While I applaude student involvement, thelast thing our campus needs is another building in an increasinglycongested location. Rather than wasting funds and eliminating thatmetered parking lot, we need to concentrate on making the currentstudent center structure more desirable. Whatever students want orneed in a student center, the current facility can certainly beremodelled and updated. If all we are in need of is a centrallylocated study area, meeting place or dining facility, we have themalready -- the Atrium (AJ) and Bracken Library.

Let's concentrate on preserving and updating what is already inplace before spending time, effort and limited resources becausewe'd rather replace than update.
