Dear Editor:
The excessive force prescribed by the BSU Police Departmentduring the incident was inappropriate. I think that action needs tobe taken by Ball State officials to try to change the excessiveforce that the BSU Police Department takes "into their own hands."Burglary reports, unfortunately, happen often near campus housing.It is such a tragedy that Michael McKinney was killed Saturday.
I feel that this event could have been prevented. It is clear tome that more training, supervision and direction needs to beinstilled in the officers of the Ball State University PoliceDepartment for our campus to truly be safe.
