Women's Cross Country:BSU travels to Central Michigan

Cards will face MAC teams Bowling Green, Western Michigan

The Ball State women's cross country team will travel to thePine View Golf Club in Three Rivers, Mich. tomorrow to compete inthe Central Collegiate.

The Cardinals will face two Mid-American Conference teams inBowling Green University and Western Michigan University. The lasttime the Cardinals faced MAC teams this season they fared well,finishing only behind Miami University and ahead of the Universityof Akron and the University of Buffalo at the MiamiInvitational.

Junior Linda Stebbins, who has been recovering from a backinjury, will compete for the first time this season when she takesto the course tomorrow.

The team is coming off of a third place finish at the IndianaIntercollegiate last week in which seven of the nine runners hadseasonal bests. Throughout the season, the team has had a solid topthree runners in senior Crystal Meeks and juniors Jill Scully andSarah Huddleston. The team will depend on them again tomorrow, aswell as freshman Rose Lehe, who has been a strong runner in thenumber four team spot.

The Cardinals will continue to look for a runner to step up andmake an impact at the fifth team spot. In the past few weeks theteam has worked to close the gap between the fourth and fifth teamrunners down to 37 seconds, but more improvement is needed beforethe team can be at a MAC championship level: their preseasongoal.

This meet will be good preparation for the Notre DameInvitational the team will compete in next week.
