Women's track second in MAC

Patricia Soman wins the long jump and the triple jump.

The Ball State Women's Track and Field team finished in second place this weekend at the Mid-American Conference Indoor track and field championships. Ball State (84.33) finished second to the host team Kent State (88). Central Michigan (75.66) placed third.

The two day championship was a good event for Ball State's Patricia Soman. Soman competed in four individual events and placed in all of them. She placed second in the 60 meter dash behind Central Michigan's Baily Fallon. Soman also placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of (24.20).

Soman's other two places were in the long jump and triple jump. Patricia placed first in the long jump with a mark of (20-5 3?4). Soman's closest competition in the event was Kent State's LaShannon Foster with a mark of (19-9 1?2). Soman also finished first in the triple jump with a mark (43-1).

Freshman Crystal Winfrey finished second in the 400 meter run with a time of (55.25). Her second place finish in the 400 meter run is one of two honors she received. Winfrey, as well as Soman, Angka Morris and Keisha Pedigo took first place honors in the 4x400 meter relay.

A performance of notable mention is that of Ashley Gillies. Gillies finished third in the high jump with a mark of (5-7).
