Letter: Open concessions inappropriate for fall graduation ceremonies

Dear Editor,

Graduation is supposed to be an accomplishment for a student who has spent many late hours preparing for exams, homework and what-have-you. The graduation ceremony is also something to be cherished by families and graduates alike.

On Dec. 15 during the commencement exercises at Worthen Arena, I was shocked to see the concession stands open selling nachos and drinks. Is this just another way to make a buck from students? This was very tacky to have during a commencement ceremony. I was actually waiting for Charlie Cardinal to high-five me and be the one to present the diplomas.

The next time a graduation ceremony occurs in Worthen Arena, maybe it would be a good thing to close the concession stands and wait for the next home basketball game.
