A calling for laughter

Comedy Central's 'Crank Yankers' releases second volume of uncensored prank calls

These puppets don't play nice.

They're rude, crude, obnoxious and they're on the other line.

Comedy Central has refined prank calling into art. "Crank Yankers" follows the take-prisoners approach to dialing strangers, whether it be for something as simple as asking for a Beanie Baby or trying to force their way into a nanny job. Their latest CD, "Crank Yankers: The Best Uncensored Crank Calls Volume 2," features real prank calls made by such comedians as Tracy Morgan, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman.

The show, which premiered in June, is the brainchild of "The Man Show"'s Kimmel and Adam Carolla, as well as executive producer Daniel Kellison. The puppets, which embody the voices on the show are part of a legacy established by such prank call legends as The Jerky Boys and the Touchtone Terrorists (who also appear on the album).

The Best Five Prank Calls from the latest CD "Crank Yankers: The Best Uncensored Crank Calls Volume 2."

1. Helen Looks for Cookies

Comedian Susie Essman provides the voice for lonely housewife Helen Higgins who orders some cookies from a handsome young grocer in exchange for her cookies. Her husband, she claims, doesn't service her anymore.

2. Nanny Job

Sarah Silverman as Hadassah Guberman answers an ad looking for a nanny. What does she need a hot tub for? "I have a lot stress ... but the children help take away the stresses." Calling during dinner she asks what the family on the other end is eating then proceeds to hire herself.

3. Grandpa's Bath

As grandpa drowns in the tub, Bobby Fletcher is busy asking about cellular calling plans. Told that he should perform mouth to mouth, he reacts by saying that it'd be too much like kissing a guy. The cell phone salesman agrees to keep the matter a secret when Fletcher says he'll come in and buy a plan.

4. Spoonie Luv Takes Out an Ad

Spoonie places a personal ad for a restless, hairy and submissive woman. One of the dirtier tracks on the album, Tracy Morgan, as this velvet robed, gold chain wearing ladies man, spews off a litany of graphic descriptions about what he looks for in a woman. As he says, that's the way hip-hop women like it.

5. Shoulda Sent it Sooner

An unsuspecting UPS customer mistakenly dials up these Touchtone Terrorists, only to be berated when she complains about a package not getting to her sister on time. Their response: "Shoulda sent the damn thing sooner." It's Junkyard Willie's last week in customer service, and for all he cares it could be floating down a river. If he sees it, maybe he'll flush it down the toilet.
