Packages for IU matchup go on sale November 9

Christmas break to have no affect on Indiana ticket sales.

Students wanting to spend New Year's Eve at Ball State for the Indiana University basketball game will have to wait a few months for tickets to become available.

Rob Richards, assistant athletic ticket manager at Worthen Arena, said tickets will be available to students on Nov. 9. The tickets are free to students, but will be limited to the student section.

"The only negative is that the game is over [Christmas] Break," Richards commented. "We do anticipate a great amount of interest, but students who live far away may not be able to attend as easily."

Richards said there are other ways to get tickets, but they are not available as single-game tickets. There are only three ways to get tickets for the Dec. 31 game.

First, anyone has the option of buying season tickets or six-game mini packages. Anyone who buys a six-game package will have the option of including the Indiana game in the set. Mini packages cost $65.

Second, season-ticket holders from last season can buy up to two more seats for the game. Each seat costs $20.

Finally, football season-ticket holders who have at least four seats can purchase a maximum of two tickets. People who meet both criteria, however, do not have the option of buying four tickets.

Also, according to the game contract, 100 tickets will go to Indiana University. These tickets are usually given to player guests, coaches' guests and university officials.

Richards said if there are tickets left they will become available to the public for $20.
