Echols earns junior college All-America honors

Recruit Cameron Echols was named to two junior college All-America teams Tuesday.

Echols, a transfer from Kennedy King Community College in Chicago, Ill., was named a Basketball Times/Rick Ball Junior College All-American, and a National Junior College Athletic Association All-American third team.

Last year at KKCC, Echols averaged 18.3 points, 14.5 rebounds and 8.0 blocks a game. He put together 11 triple-doubles as well.

In his senior year at Simeon High School, he averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds a game, leading the team to a 26-3 record.

The 6-foot-8-inch, 210 pound Echols will be joining junior college transfer Aaron Austin, and freshmen Kevin Cates, Kyle Cox and Tom Howland as first year Cardinals.
