Ball State marks another MAC West win, downs Toledo 81-63

Ball State marked another convincing win in Worthen Arena Saturday, defeating Toledo, 81-63. This win marks Ball State's home record at 10-1 losing only to Butler in Dec. The Cards are now 17-8 overall and 10-4 in the Mid-American Conference. The loss drops Toledo to 9-13 overall and 6-7. Theron Smith lead the Cardinals marking his 16th double-double of the year knocking in 24 points and tugging down 10 rebounds.

Twelve of those points came from the free throw line as Smith shot 12-13 for the night from the charity stripe. The rest of the Ball State team followed suit going 23-26 from the free throw line.

Also scoring well for Ball State was Petie Jackson who finished with 19 as Lonnie Jones aided the Cards to victory with 11 points. Jones also had 3 blocks on the night.

Toledo found itself in foul trouble mid-way through the second half as both Milo Kirsh and Ricardo Thomas fouled out. The rockets also had trouble in the area of ball protection as the team was forced to 17 rebounds for the night.
