E-mail should be up by 1 p.m.

Technical difficulties with Ball State's Outlook e-mail services have kept the system down for two days, but a solution is coming.

University Computing Services is aiming to have the problem corrected by 1 p.m. today, according to a UCS Help Desk operator.

UCS is working with Microsoft engineers to correct the problem, caused by one of two servers being down, according to a message posted after the Outlook Web site is accessed.

The Outlook Web site said Wednesday night that the "serious" problem has a number of UCS staff "working around the clock" in what is to be "a complex and lengthy process."

The problem is limited to any e-mail located on the exchange servers, which has prohibited many students from accessing their Outlook e-mail accounts. The downed server has also impeded campus communication.

"I had a question about a meeting and was unable to reach my contact person, so I missed the meeting," freshman Catherine Sutton said.
