Jack's Donuts opens in Muncie

After graduating from Ball State in May with an English degree, Gus Goggin just became a business owner. On June 4, he opened Muncie's first Jack's Donuts chain.

ARF opening new clinic for low-income pet owners

After 18 years of being "a no-kill shelter," Muncie’s Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) will be expanding in an effort to help more animals and their owners receive services and the care they need to live healthy lives. ARF is expanding to offer low-cost veterinary services through a new spin-off clinic called ARF’s PAW (promoting animal wellness), which is expected to open in late August.

Petty Road causing traffic issues for drivers, pedestrians

After the stretch of Petty Road that reaches west of the campus attracted the attention of city officials and local residences with worries about traffic — both vehicle and pedestrian — Ball State renters near the area voiced their concerns too.


The Board of Trustees had a meeting on Jan. 29 in the Forum Room of the L.A. Pittenger Student Center. This was Interim President Terry King's first Board of Trustees meeting as the acting president. UnKoch My Campus group to address concerns at forum Monday

Ball State's presidential search is gaining national attention. At the Board of Trustees' open forum on May 23, a group named UnKoch My Campus plans on presenting arguments and research regarding why the Charles Koch Foundation's donation to Ball State could skew the election of the next president — and why everyone should care.

Mark III Taproom hosts grand reopening

Indiana’s oldest gay bar, The Mark III Taproom, is reopening its doors in a new location tonight. While it has been a place for customers to relax, enjoy themselves and "come in a stranger, and leave as a friend," as its slogan suggests, it has also been an iconic place for the City of Muncie and has had a special place in certain customers' hearts.



In an effort to help Muncie citizens to experience the trail and get fit, the Greenway has initiated a bike share program where anyone over the age of 18 can use a bike for free on the Greenway. The Greenway has cruisers, a single-gear bike with backpedal breaks, for all sizes and ages with bells for safe travel. Muncie named Bicycle Friendly Community

The City of Muncie is now recognized as a bicycle friendly community (BFC), according to the League of American Bicyclists. The city received a Bronze BFC award, allowing it to join 374 other communities across the country who also have this title.
