Classes are in session this week, but some students are still in the dark.

As of Wednesday morning, about 500 people were without power in Delaware, Blackford and Jay counties, Indiana Michigan Power said in an update.

Most customers' power in Muncie is expected to be restored by Wednesday at 6 p.m., with a "handful" of individuals regaining power later, the update said.

Indiana Michigan Power listed 9,350 customer power outages in the Muncie area on its outage map Sunday night. At the time, it said crews were "assembled and working on assessing damage" for the 24,000 customers in East Central Indiana without power, according to a storm update.

Among the destruction were downed trees on campus, power outages in surrounding neighborhoods and extensive damage to the Muncie Fieldhouse.

Mayor Dennis Tyler told the Daily News on Sunday night that thousands of gallons of water poured into the Fieldhouse.

The city of Muncie posted updates via Facebook, notifying residents of emergency personnel activity and when some would regain power.

The city of Muncie also posted photos of Muncie Central High School's football scoreboard destroyed by the storm.

Some took to Twitter and Facebook to share photos and reactions.
