Alumni 'bring the hope'

Two Ball State University alumni are giving students the opportunity to raise money for themselves and their favorite charity with the recently launched Internet apparel company Bring The Hope. Jeremy Chastain and Mike Marker, 1991 graduates and the founders of the company, said they were having a contest for Ball State students to make a T-shirt concept that could be distributed.

The Ball State University men's basketball team travels to the University of Akron tonight looking to snap the Zips' six-game winning streak, including their last four against Mid-American Conference West Division opponents. Ball State coach Billy Taylor said after being outscored 72-24 in the paint in the last two games against Miami University and Kent State University the emphasis against Akron will begin down low.

Student Government Association will partner with Residence Hall Association today to address two Campus Alliance platform points and other issues expressed by SGA's on-campus caucus. In order to facilitate the potential alliance, Vice President Carrie Cozad said assistant director of Housing and Residence Life Stacy Said would visit SGA's meeting today to discuss ways to effectively work together with RHA, which her department oversees.

GYMNASTICS: Cardinals sign two high school gymnasts

The Ball State University gymnastics team signed two gymnasts to national letters of intent Monday. The Cardinals officially announced Nicole Allen and Morgan Coslow will be joining the Cardinals for the 2009-2010 season. Allen, a senior at Hebron Christian Academy in Buford, Ga.

Though Student Government Association is confident at least one slate will be at Monday's nomination convention, Ball State University could possibly see a repeat of last year, SGA President Frank Hood said. Rumors have circulated about at least one slate meeting the criteria for running in the SGA election, he said, and SGA and the Election Board don't think anything will change.

A Ball State University student won a $500 gold coin for his part in the 2009 I-69 Collegiate Innovation Challenge on Friday and Saturday in Plymouth. According to a press release junior Zachary Alexander was on the winning team. Small BSU Equestrian Team hangs tough

The Ball State University Equestrian Team's hunt seat group took third and second places the past weekend at a two-day Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition in Marion. Equestrian team president Dana Wessman said the team placed third Saturday and second to Purdue University by two points, despite having a team about one third the size of Purdue.
