Cardinal Impact looks ahead to election

Cardinal Impact, the Student Government Association slate that has been embroiled in controversy since Monday, named a new treasurer and campaign manager and is officially nominated for election. The slate chose junior photojournalism major Nick Turner to replace Cody Willis as candidate for treasurer after Willis resigned.

BASEBALL: Cards lose season opener in extra innings

The Ball State University baseball team lost its season opener 4-3 to Furman University in 10 innings Friday. Furman senior Connor Lind reached on second baseman Nate Fields' error to start the bottom of the 10th and advanced to third before sophomore left fielder Reese Wade singled him home.

Student group stands on own for economic policy change

Arguments about the economy broke out at Let's Stand's Tuesday evening meeting. The group formed, by senior Cody Willis, was put together to come up with a business plan to change economic policy. Willis said five students attended the meeting. Small arguments broke out because people were opening up their minds and sharing ideas, Willis said.

2 SGA slates accepted; 3rd slate to reapply

Three slates attended the second Student Government Association Nomination Convention on Thursday, but only two were approved to run for election. Elections Chair Marco Pretell-Vazquez said Cardinal Impact, the lone slate that attended the first convention, and Cardinal Collaboration are eligible to campaign immediately.

Whenever a Big Ten team visits Muncie for an athletic event, it's bound to draw attention. The same holds true Saturday when Michigan State University comes to town to take on Ball State University's men's tennis team at noon. Speaker says there is a link between the economy and education

Is there a link between the economic crisis and education? James Lintzenich said yes. Lintzenich, who graduated from Ball State University in 1975 with a business degree and is now the CEO of the Lumina Foundation, addressed students at Teachers College and Miller College of Business Thursday afternoon about his answer to that question as part of the Miller College of Business Distinguished Speaker Series.

GYMNASTICS: Cards lose to No. 25 Southeastern Missouri

The Ball State University gymnastics team fell to No. 25 Southeastern Missouri State University on Thursday night 193.100-195.500, the Cardinals' highest score of the season thus far. Top individual performances for the Cardinals included Katelyn Busacker, who placed second on the balance beam with a 9.

Mike Pence opens a new office in Downtown Muncie

Five pictures of Ball State University lined the freshly painted West wall of Mike Pence's new West Charles Street office Friday, but the forty people in the office ignored them. Instead, the group of business owners, bankers and donors were there to shake hands with the Republican representing Indiana's 6th district.

Ball State University students will be asked to stand on their feet for 12 hours Saturday to help raise money for Riley Hospital for Children. The 10th annual Ball State Dance Marathon, an event that attracted nearly 100 dancers and raised $14,000 last year, will be from 1 p.

LaFollette stinks after sewer backup

LaFollette residents woke up to locked bathrooms this morning because of a flooded basement. Resident Assistant Evan Stall said when he woke up and went to take a shower this morning there was a sign on the bathroom door stating it was closed, and the door was locked.
