Turtle Tugs has large crowd because of weather

While some Ball State University students used cold drinks or shady trees to cool off Sunday afternoon, Delta Zeta sorority members and other students thought using a pool of green Jell-O would be better. The sorority used 100 gallons of gelatin for their annual Turtle Tugs event, where students competed in six-person teams in a tug-of-war tournament.

Health Center checks for swine flu

Regardless of what illness they may have, patients at Ball State University's Amelia T. Wood Health Center will have their temperature taken to detect possible swine flu cases. Dr. Kent Bullis, medical director for the health center, said he is not worried about an outbreak of the viral strain, which has killed more than 100 Mexicans and led to school closings in five U.

MEN'S GOLF: Cardinals don't get excited by second place finish

In its last regular tournament of the season, the Ball State University men's golf team finished second out of 12 teams at the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. The Cardinals shot a team-combined score of 747, 33 strokes behind winner Michigan State University.

FOOTBALL: 2 Cards are selected in NFL Draft

After spending the past three seasons establishing himself as the most decorated quarterback in Ball State University history, Nate Davis is ready to become the quarterback of the future for the San Francisco 49ers. Davis was the second of two former Ball State football players who were selected in the 2009 NFL Draft on Sunday.

SOFTBALL: Cards break records in conference wins

An eventful weekend for the Ball State University softball team ended with the Cardinals going 3-1 while watching two school records fall. On Friday, in her first at bat, Lisa Rozanski singled and then stole second during the next at bat. The steal was the 71st of her career, a new Ball State record.

THINK TO EXIST: All 'Scrubs' up: Sitcom can offer valuable lessons

In 10 days, the sitcom "Scrubs" will finish its eighth season on television and most likely be its last forever. Over the last few years, I have become an avid fan of the witty, quirky and fast-paced dialogue seen on "Scrubs." As I prepare for the one-hour season finale on May 6, I have begun to reflect back on memorable moments from the show.

Five-tool players are rare enough in baseball, but Ball State University sophomore Kolbrin Vitek is at least a six-tool player. The third baseman/pitcher had all of his tools on display during the Cardinals' three-game series against Western Michigan University.

Ball State Bold 85 percent done

Less than a quarter of the way into its $200 million fundraising campaign, Ball State University has raised 85 percent of its goal. The university announced that the Ball State Bold: Investing in the Future campaign reached $170.2 million the past weekend.

TRACK AND FIELD: Cardinals are lickity split in weekend invitationals

The Ball State University track and field team divided in half to attend two invitationals this past weekend, bringing home several individual bests from both meets. The long distance runners traveled to Hillsdale, Mich., for the "GINA" Relays while the rest of the team headed to Indianapolis for the Stan Lyons Invitational.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State sweeps Quincy

After a week of focusing on finishing, the Ball State University men's volleyball team did just that in Saturday's match. In the quarterfinals of the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Tournament, No. 3 seed Ball State swept No. 6 seed Quincy University 30-18, 30-13, 30-28.

Living Room's final show

Angie Bays has experienced several life-changing moments when music spoke directly to her. Most of those moments happened in the past six or seven years at the Living Room. Bays started going to the Living Room when she was in college. She has been volunteering there for a few years and has seen it change others' lives as well.

Event attracts church leaders to Muncie

What looked like a small Christian church congregation at the Christian Campus House on Saturday was actually much more than that. Church leaders from East Central Indiana met for a conference about energizing small churches. The event was hosted by the Energizing Small Churches Network and sponsored by Standard Publishing and the Christian Student Fellowship.
