Usually a place children are free to explore, the Muncie Children's Museum is discouraging the presence of its core audience due to their haunted house, taking place on Friday and Saturday evenings through the spook-filled month of October.Advertising a haunted house to college students taking place at the Muncie Children's Museum raised a few eyebrows on campus. Posted fliers throughout Ball State University advertising the haunted house known as "The Basement" as "not recommended for young children." The confusion many felt at first glance can be explained by two university department's collaboration to create a "terrifying" basement.

Tyler talks religion

Students filed into Pruis Hall on Wednesday night with questions and speculations. The "Do You Agree with Tyler?" campaign supported by Campus Crusade for Christ was at its climax, but the procession throughout the previous weeks had offered little aid in explaining the outreach's intent.All the hype from the previous weeks came to its crux last night when "I Agree with Tyler" held a presentation in Pruis Hall to announce Tyler Yoder, the principal student ambassador for the campaign. Yoder began with an informal tone but important massage: "Hey everyone. My name is Tyler, and I am a senior business major from Middlebury, Indiana. I'm glad to see you all here, and I hope you're glad to see me."

Parking garages' new stations accept credit, debit cards

Ball State University parking garages now accept credit and debit card payment, Parking Services announced Wednesday.Nancy Wray, Parking Services office manager, said the office decided to add the new option after they installed upgraded pay stations in the parking garages in late spring.

FROM THE HOOD: Marketability important to getting job after school

Nothing excites me more than the prospect of living in my parents' basement. I mean, come on now, who doesn't like having their food cooked and laundry cleaned for them? Sadly, this really is a concern for me, and I'd imagine it's a concern for many others as well. The job market is anything but inviting. Simply graduating with a degree isn't enough to be guaranteed a job anymore. As future employees, we need to start honing our skills now to make us marketable later.

Experts say young Americans are needed to prevent higher health care insurance premiums

Darcy McNiel's opinion on mandated health care is one many Ball State University students can relate to."If you're an adult and you don't have a chronic illness, health insurance shouldn't have to be forced on you," the senior telecommunications major said.Some say she has a point. Between paying off college debt, having a low income and being in good health, few groups can make a better argument against mandated coverage than 19 to 29 year olds.

Jason Aldean brings 'Big Green Tractor' to Emens

Some of Jason Aldean's local fans were willing to do almost anything to see him in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at John R. Emens Auditorium."I was gonna say ‘I do,' run out of there, hear him sing one song [while] in my dress, then run back to my wedding," 19-year-old fan Ashlee Black said.Others were willing to do manual labor to see the country music star.Wednesday was the last day that photos could be submitted for the 102.5 WMDH "Big Green Tractor" contest, named after Aldean's new song.
