Wednesday marks 1 year anniversary of Obama's election

One year ago, Barack Obama was elected the 44th president of the United States.The college demographic, including Ball State students, turned out in record numbers for Obama last Election Day, leading him to a landslide victory on the national stage and causing Indiana to turn blue for the first time in more than 40 years.

Educators protest proposed teaching license requirements

The third and final public hearing about the proposed changes to Indiana teacher licensing standards drew more than 250 people Monday to a conference room at the Indiana State Library.The meeting lasted more than two hours and was filled with educators speaking staunchly against Indiana State Superintendent of Education Tony Bennett's proposal.

FOOTBALL: Ball State's Wildcat expands against Ohio

The Wildcat had not yielded a pass for Ball State University this year, but Ohio University was sure they would see one Saturday. The Cardinals did throw out of the formation in their 20-17 loss to the Bobcats, and it surprised them anyway. In the fourth quarter, quarterback Tanner Justice took a lateral from triggerman Eric Williams and threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Hill streaking down the sideline.

CROSS COUNTRY: Cards finish 11th at MAC Championship

For the second straight season, the Ball State University cross country team finished in 11th place at the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday.Junior Ali Bishel led the Cardinals with a fourth place finish overall on the 6K course. Her time of 22:33 was under 15 seconds behind winner Ari Fisher from the University of Toledo in a tightly contested front pack.

Four Ball State student videos make it to national competition

Four films created by Ball State University students made it into the top 32 semifinal in Rooftop Comedy's 3rd Annual National College Funny Filmmaker Competition.Junior telecommunications major Shane Magwire had one video and sketch comedy group "Something Else" had three videos make it into the top 32.

Bake sale to benefit Six Sigma group

Ball State University's Six Sigma Student Organization is having a bake sale this week.Cookies, cupcakes, puppy chow and muffins will be sold today, Tuesday and Wednesday in the Whitinger Business Building. The sale will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In its worst loss since the 2006 season, Ball State University was overwhelmed by Kent State University in an 8-0 shutout to end the Cardinals' regular season.Ball State was shut out in both of its games this weekend, falling 3-0 to Ohio University on Saturday.
