The softball team defeated Eastern Michigan 8-0 in five innings this afternoon on Senior Day at the Ball State Softball Complex for the first game of a weekend series.Starting pitcher Nicole Steinbach was able to blank the Eagles, tossing a complete game shutout.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s recreation of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s single “Can’t Hold Us” wasn’t easy. Joel Godett, assistant director of broadcast and multimedia services, filmed the parody and came up with the idea after seeing a similar video done at Syracuse when he was in college. The video was shot over the course of two weeks and consisted of at least eight different shoots, Godett said.
All it took to end Ball State’s upset bid of 13th-ranked Indiana was a single bad inning. Indiana used an error on Ball State catcher Sam Tidaback to jump out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning, and the Cardinals received a home run by senior Kyle Raleigh to even the score in the second.Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning the Cardinals and Hoosiers were locked in a 1-1 pitcher’s duel.
In its first year under head coach Max Norris, Ball State women’s tennis set a school record for wins in the Mid-American Conference.
