Freshman makes immediate impact

It's easy to see why a 6-foot-10 three-year letter winner, two-time regional champion at Mount Carmel High School and Illinois and one of Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 prospects for 2014 was of immediate interest to Ball State men's volleyball coach Joel Walton. Matt Walsh, the NCAA's leader in blocks per set, has stepped into the Ball State lineup and contributed immediately.

Gymnastics looking to compete despite loss of freshman to injury

Four days before the Ball State gymnastic team's first Mid-American Conference meet, head coach Joanna Saleem found out one of her gymnasts would not be able to compete because of an injury. Instead of having to find one person to fill in for freshman Jordyn Penny, who has a stress fracture in her back, Saleem had to add four routines to the line-up.
