Ball State University is installing surveillance cameras in Scheumann Stadium and Carmichael Hall's parking lots in an effort to improve campus safety. Electrical engineer Jack Willis said 12 surveillance cameras will be installed in the parking lots. There will be four cameras in the Carmichael parking lot, two in the stadium overflow parking lot, four in the Alumni Center parking lot and two in the stadium parking lot, Willis said.
Coming off the 2006 field hockey season, Ball State University's team didn't quite know what to expect of junior forward Casey Hunsicker and sophomore forward Brooke MacGillivary. The Muncie Indiana Transit System's Late Loop returned this weekend after going on a two-week hiatus because of a lack of sponsorship. Mary Gaston, asst. general manager for MITS, said the trolley returned Thursday with its regular schedule and route. Ridership this weekend was less than previous weekends with 321 patrons, Gaston said.
Ball State University will be repairing the last of three cracked sidewalk corners at the intersection of McKinley and Riverside avenues, Jim Lowe, director of engineering and operations, said. Two corners of the intersection have already been repaired, he said.
A charitable foundation in Muncie gave $1 million to Ball State University's immersive learning programs. Provost Terry King said the Hamer D. and Phyllis C. Shafer Foundation notified Ball State about the grant during the summer. Ball State will receive installments from the grant during a five-year period, he said.

The victory is the Cardinals' second in a row after defeating the University of Toledo Thursday.

This time, however, a small smattering of the 3,800 students that attended the game scattered in the after crowd.
