Very few will be enjoying their surroundings or conversing with others.

After six tournaments, the Ball State University men's golf team finally concluded its fall season. The Cardinals took fifth place out of 17 teams at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. Tuesday. Despite being in 10th place going into the final round, the Cardinals jumped five places after shooting a team score of 279 in the last 18 holes.
It's basketball season, and Ball State University kicked it off right with the first basketball "Fan Jam," a meet-and-greet event that should become annual. The MiXx, a new student-produced show, will air on Cardinal Vision tonight at 9:30 p.m., Executive Producer Starla Loyd said. The show aims for serious coverage of important issues through panel discussions and reporting, comedy with skits and shows and local talent, she said.
Ball State University Career Center representatives emphasized the importance of manners Tuesday at the professional etiquette dinner. Participants were divided into two groups in the Alumni Center for a networking lecture before the meal. James Mitchell, assistant director of the Career Center, said 90 percent of all people are afraid to mingle with people they do not know, but 99 percent of executives consider social skills important to business.

Children, candy and costumes filled residence halls as Ball State University students passed out candy to trick-or-treaters. Students were able to hand out candy to children from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Participating students put a sign on their door to let children know they would pass out candy.
Joe Cermak n Chief Reporter During Monday's testing of the text message alert system, Ball State University overcame an initial delay and recorded a time of 17 minutes to send about 4,000 texts. Loren Malm, assistant director security, policy, systems and assessment, said the delay was caused by a simple coding error attributed to the large number of message recipients.
The south side of Bracken Library was filled with music, calling those within earshot to the building, as part of a collaborative effort between WCRD and the library on Tuesday. WCRD promotions manager Jade Sullivan said the radio station was doing a live remote to support Bracken and to encourage people to read while they listen to the radio.
