After Ball State University's men's basketball team notched its first road win of the year at University at Buffalo, it was reasonable to wonder if the Cardinals had turned the corner and would start winning tough road games. Those thoughts came to a halt last week as the Cardinals suffered two more road losses by a total of eight points.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Chamberlain, Durbin meet UCLA

Starting outside attackers Todd Chamberlain and Partick Durbin have waited long enough to play against UCLA. Since last season, the No. 14 Ball State University men's volleyball team is 0-3 against No. 7 UCLA. However, this weekend's matches mark the first time the Cardinals' two leaders in kills will be on the court against the Bruins.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cardinals pay up to face Bruins at Worthen

The No. 7 UCLA men's volleyball team will be guaranteed one thing from this weekend's matches: $3,000 from Ball State University. According to a contract obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, the No. 14 Ball State men's volleyball team will pay UCLA $3,000 and will provide UCLA eight hotel rooms for three nights for playing in the two matches at Worthen Arena this weekend.

Survey: Students OK with online medical records

A survey of how college students interact with campus health centers shows a majority of students like the idea of storing health information online. Jon Englund, founding executive director of the Center for Student Health and Life, which created the survey, said 56 percent of respondents liked the idea of having health records stored online for convenience and ease of access.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals earn success in face of adversity

Considering Ball State University's women's basketball team was rattled with adversity since the preseason, few could predict the Cardinals' final road trip of the regular season would go without a glitch. It certainly didn't disappoint. Upon arriving at the team's hotel, Ball State's acting head coach Lisa McDonald was informed no rooms were available due to an overbooking with a conference at the hotel.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: 1995 UCLA match remains memorable moment

Prior to its match against No. 1 UCLA in the 1995 Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament, Ball State University middle attacker Phil Eatherton asked his teammates what would happen if they beat the Bruins. Following that question, he then asked what would happen if Ball State swept the Bruins and one of his teammates made a bet with Eatherton.

The Legends Ball event program defined a legend as "someone who has served the African American and Ball State University community whose achievements are aspiring others to believe and achieve." Award recipient Maude Jennings didn't consider herself one, she said in an interview prior to the event.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Looking for West Coast respect

Coach Don Shondell still remembers the last time UCLA was at Ball State University. Playing in the 1972 NCAA men's volleyball final four, the Bruins defeated Shondell and his Cardinals in the semi-finals and went on to win their second NCAA championship. Now, 36 years later and retired, Shondell will sit in the Worthen Arena stands Friday and Saturday and watch UCLA return to Muncie for a tournament that bares his name.

Four matches remain before the Ball State University women's tennis team opens up its conference season against Miami University on March 22. Despite two straight home victories last weekend, freshman Eduardo Pavia couldn't help but to look ahead to Friday's match against Purdue University. Saturday's dance marathon to benefit Riley's

About 100 Ball State University students will dance the night away to raise money for Riley Children's Hospital from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday in Irving Gym. Chelsea Backus, dance marathon president, said the ninth-annual Ball State University Dance Marathon is open to all students for the first time in its history.

Nine Ball State University fraternities have recruited 50 members, an IFC official said. The Interfraternity Council released the numbers Wednesday after the totals were officially counted. Coty Calvin, Interfraternity Council vice president of public relations, said fraternities raised $1,740 in philanthropies and worked 1,533 hours of service last semester.

Around the interior of Worthen Arena, students had the opportunity Wednesday to interview with businesses such as Target and organizations such as the Peace Corps. James Mitchell, assistant director of the Career Center, said this year's job fair had about 110 employers offering students employment and internship possibilities.
