MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: No. 7 BSU plays No. 1 Penn State Saturday

Firsthand knowledge of playing the No. 7 Ball State University men's volleyball team is not helping No. 1 Penn State University prepare for its home match Saturday, Nittany Lions coach Mark Pavlik said. Despite winning two matches against the Cardinals this season, the coach said Ball State (16-6, 9-1 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) is a better team from when they last played in January.

Ball State University's new associate provost for research and dean of the graduate school plans to recruit more high-quality graduate students and research-faculty members to campus. After Robert Morris held the interim position for almost eight months, the university announced Thursday he was chosen from a pool of three candidates to have the permanent position.

BSU dance makes cut

With their hair gathered tightly in buns, aprons tied delicately over their 1950s dresses and doll-like smiles painted on their faces, 11 female dancers whisked around Melanie Swihart and Jacob Wright, who portrayed a quintessential '50s married couple. Ball State University dance professor Audra Sokol choreographed the piece last semester for Ball State Dance Theatre, and the department took it to be judged at the American College Dance Festival Association's East Central Regional Conference this month.

A couple weeks before the spring scrimmage, Ball State University football coach Brady Hoke announced on Wednesday the addition of former Colorado State University assistant coach Darrell Funk to his staff. Funk, whose first day with the Cardinals' program was March 17, will tutor Ball State's offensive line during the upcoming season.

MEN'S GOLF: Ball State faces familiar teams at IU meet

The Ball State University men's golf team will be competing in the Adidas Hoosier Invitational this weekend in Bloomington. The No. 18 Hoosiers are playing host to the 15 teams in the tournament. The 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday.
