Environmentalists sue to halt I-69 construction

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Opponents of a $3 billion highway between Indianapolis and Evansville are suing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, alleging it violated federal law by giving the state permission to fill wetlands and reroute streams along part of the road's 142-mile route.

2010 census: Central Indiana grows the most, Gary shrinks

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The state demographer at Indiana University says the state's 2010 census data shows the Indianapolis metropolitan area accounted for more than half of the state's growth since 2000 while the city of Gary and a large swath of north central and east central Indiana are in decline.

Police: $500,000 worth of pot seized on toll road

ELKHART, Ind.  — State police say a search of a sport utility vehicle during a routine stop on the Indiana Toll Road led to the seizure of about 100 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $500,000.
