Ball State has challenges. President Ferguson knows that, and at his State of the University address tomorrow, he’ll be sharing where he thinks the university can go in the future. However, he is just one person, and while he’s important, we wanted to know what some of the 20,000 students who live and spend most of their time here think about the state of the university.
The Ball State board of trustees is set to meet at 9 a.m., before President Ferguson gives his State of the University address.

A shooting Thursday morning in Hartford City, 20 minutes north of Muncie, prompted Blackford County Schools to lock down. The shooting is still under investigation, Kelly Cale, Blackford County Sheriff’s Office dispatch said, however they did not occur at nor were connected to the school.

At last Thursday's Faculty Council a committee charged with reviewing and researching tenure, tenure-track and contract faculty titles found that the university needed to address how the faculty and professional personnel handbook defined and described its contract faculty.
Bernie Hannon is now Ball State's new vice president for business affairs and treasurer. President Paul Ferguson announced the appointment of Hannon, the associate vice president for business affairs, as the new vice president today in an email to the university.

Some days Brittany Mazzola, a Ball State alumna, would quit teaching and become a lawyer like her grandma wanted her to be.
Jasmine Shoppe and her husband are both artists and currently sell their art in their store, Vintage Shoppe Thrift & Gift. She recently opened up a thrift store and is hoping to use her shop to help out other local artists.
