John Paddock set to leave Ball State Football

The redshirt junior has one year remaining of NCAA eligibility and started for the Cardinals this season as they went 5-7 and missed out on bowl eligibility. Paddock threw for 2,713 yards, 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in his first year as the starting quarterback for Ball State.

SCOTT: The NFL's new Pro Bowl format will not be popular

January is when all the magic happens and, amid all the NFL playoff games that have me on the edge of my seat filled with suspense and pandemonium, I can sit back, relax and take in a breather with the NFL Pro Bowl. The All-Star Game of the NFL is an amusing occasion that truly allows me to see my favorite players in the league and enjoy them all coming together to create a super team going up against another super team.

JAQUAN AMOS' JOURNEY

The third destination: Jaquan Amos' journey to Ball State football

For the average person, five years may seem like the blink of an eye. To graduate student safety Jaquan Amos, it has molded him into the man he is today. Ball State is Amos’ third destination in the last five years for his college career. Before making his way to Muncie, he spent a year in Ames, Iowa, with the Iowa State Cyclones, shortly after playing three years in his hometown of Philadelphia with the Villanova Wildcats.

NEWMAN: The massive stain on every NFL jersey

For some reason, the NFL seems to disagree with me. Every NFL player on every NFL team walks out of their locker room and onto the field each game day with a stain on their jersey. Sometimes it’s super hard to see. Sometimes it’s pretty darn easy to see. Other times the stain is so obvious that it’s hard to look away, but football fans generally just miss it or ignore it completely. I can’t miss that stain. That stain is the NFL ownership group.

ZUVER: A dysfunctional day from the dysfunctional Indianapolis Colts franchise

“We cultivate winning cultures, we cultivate toughness, we live by integrity, and we don’t expect any more than we expect from ourselves.” Colts Owner Jim Irsay’s message to the media after one of the most chaotic days in the franchise's rich history. Let's forget Monday for a moment. This entire season has been a masterclass on dysfunction in the NFL. Let’s just take the last three weeks, to keep it concise.

“I'm so excited for our kids and for our program,” head coach Mike Wilhelm said. “We talked with this group about being champions months ago, because we knew we had the ingredients to be a championship team. But we had to grow and we learned from our losses and from some of our weaknesses throughout the year. I think we corrected those and that's how you become a championship team.”

Shot in the foot

Ball State Football (4-4, 2-2 MAC) fell 20-16 to Eastern Michigan (5-3, 2-2 MAC) to put an end to their three-game winning streak, unable to cap off Homecoming week on a positive note.

Ball State played a comeback role in the last three games, defeating Northern Illinois in overtime, beating Central Michigan 17-16 after trailing most of the game and most recently knocking off UConn with a shutout in the second half after being behind 21-10 at halftime.

ZUVER: It Can’t Be Time to Believe Again, Can It?

How are we supposed to feel?  It's a question that Indianapolis Colts fans have been left feeling after a number of games this year. Whether it was the tie in Houston or the ugly wins vs. Kansas City and Denver, this Colts season is confusing. Sunday's game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars was no different.
