Chris Ames is known for bringing his energy to the court. He is not known for his scoring. In fact, earlier this season coach Ronny Thompson asked Ames if he could hit water if he threw the ball over the side of a boat while floating in the ocean. Ames responded by leading the team in shooting percentage, making almost 70 percent of his shots for the season.
For only the second time in school history and the first time since 1971, Ball State University's men's basketball team will end its season with at least 20 losses after falling to the University of Toledo 71-61 Thursday. Ball State (9-20, 5-10 Mid-American Conference) was having its best shooting performance with less than 10 minutes left in the second half, making 20-of-32 from the field.
When Nana Ekow Maison was an art student at Kwame Nkrumah University, he studied Western art movements such as Baroque and Realism more than the art from his African homeland. The Ghanaian painter did not discover his homeland influences until he began graduate degree studies at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Indiana University trustees named Michael McRobbie, one of the schools' top academic officers, as its 18th president Thursday. McRobbie, IU's interim provost since January 2006, will replace President Adam Herbert, who announced more than a year ago amid criticism from faculty members that he would not seek a contract renewal.
Living, as I do, in an accommodating community and attending an accommodating university, I sometimes forget just how unreasonable some people can be when it comes to their beliefs. Multicultural groups at Ball State University are working together to put on Late Nite this Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center. In her first two seasons, Lisa Rusche averaged eight and a half minutes per game with one start and totaled 108 points. Her junior campaign has been an entirely different story. Playing in the post, Rusche has started every game except senior night this season, averaging 24.
The contributions and dedication of Ball State University alumna Rebecca Reichert will not be forgotten within the music education department. Through the efforts of faculty members, her family, the rock band the Goo Goo Dolls and Reichert herself,, a sustainable legacy fund has been established in Reichert's name, said Kimberly Inks, Reichert's life-long friend and associate professor of music.
A Ball State University junior is pushing to make it easier for himself and other blind students to navigate around campus. Joe Hodge met with the Residence Hall Association on Thursday to discuss putting Braille signs and labels around campus. Having Braille signs with the room number on all doors will make it much easier for blind students to find their destination without assistance, Hodge said.
This Sunday Skip Mills, Chris Ames and D'Andre Peyton will step onto the court in Worthen Arena for Ball State University's men's basketball team one last time in their collegiate careers. The times have been trying during their tenure at Ball State. Mills is the only senior to play at Ball State when the team had a winning season.

Students could be required to take a technology literacy course if the Ball State University Core Curriculum for the 21st Century is approved. Both the Student Government Association and the University Core Curriculum subcommittee of University Senate have discussed this issue.
Joe Hodge, a Ball State University junior, is working with the university to put Braille signs on rooms all around campus. The signs would help blind students find the right room when they get into buildings on campus. Some doors on campus, such as those in the Art and Journalism building, already have Braille on the plates that identify room numbers for every room.
Recently the NCAA enacted restrictions on colleges' uses of Native Americans as mascots. The Native American Student Association along with the Anthropology Club would like to comment on the controversy surrounding this decision, and to address the related Feb.
Dance majors will present choreography works of their own creation as part of the Junior Choreography Showcase, sponsored by the Ball State University Department of Theater and Dance. "Heartbreaker," a spoof of the Christmas classic "Nutcracker," is one of eleven dance numbers choreographed by students that will be featured in the showcase at 7:30 p.
Three is sometimes considered a crowd, but a Philadelphia trio has made the number work for them. The classically-trained Time for Three will perform at 7 p.m. in Pruis Hall. Violinists Nicholas Kendall and Zachary DePue and double bassist Rannan Meyer attended the Curtis Institute of Music.
Park Hall may have had a major influence on the number of students returning to the dorms this fall. This year, 340 more students have applied to live in the dorms than last year. Alan Hargrave, associate dean of Student Affairs and director of Housing and Residence Life, said the percentage of students signed up, is higher than the past several years.
