As the season begins, the three youngest players on Ball State University's women's tennis team are starting to achieve success. Sophomore Sophie Quist won the singles flight A consolation bracket, freshman Hayley Hall advanced to the finals of singles flight C and freshman Georgina Thomson advanced to the semifinals of the singles flight D in the Ball State Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Doc's Music Hall is donating 10 percent of its bar sales after 10 p.m. this Thursday and next Thursday in order to raise money for the Late Loop trolley. Doc's owner Mike Martin said local musician Derek Jones will play and there is no cover charge for the event.
After weeks of practice, the Ball State University women's tennis team will finally be able to host a competition at its newly-renovated facility. The Ball State Fall Invitational takes place today and Saturday at the reopened Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, with additional matches being held at Northside Middle School.
James "Yusuf" Yee, a former U.S. Army Muslim chaplain at Guantanamo Bay Detainment Camp in Cuba, said he hopes that after hearing his story, people are inspired to protect civil rights in the United States. Ball State University's sophomore running back MiQuale Lewis' season has ended prematurely because of an injury for a second year in a row, Cardinals' football coach Brady Hoke said Thursday. The results of an MRI Lewis underwent Wednesday morning showed he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
A few Ball State University students will compete during half-time at Saturday's football game to win a scholarship and a chance to win a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu from GMAC Financial Services. Five students will participate in the competition, which involves putting on football equipment.

When the new Ball State University Web site starts running Oct. 1 students can expect to see more pictures, graphics and other more flexible applications than the current site has. University Web Coordinator Nancy Prater said the new Web site is visually more modern and reflects where Ball State is heading in the future.

Ball State University students can donate blood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Ballroom. Student Government Association Treasurer Zac Davis said SGA was sponsoring and supporting the American Red Cross blood drive. The goal was to get at least 75 students to donate, he said.
