Sorority takes fun approach to philanthropy

Pi Beta Phi sorority will use a tug-of-war, pie eating contests and more to help fight illiteracy as part of this year's philanthropic focus for the sorority. Pi Fest will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday on LaFollette Field. Activities will also include a "Speed Read," a miniature philanthropy contest focused on promoting literacy.

The Ball State University football team received 38 votes and is listed at No. 29 in the newest Associated Press Poll released Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals - receiving 32 more votes than they did last week - moved up nine spots in the weekly poll. Ball State (5-0) defeated Kent State University 41-20 Saturday at Scheumann Stadium.
