WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Big weekend awaits Cards

The Ball State University women's volleyball team travels to Bowling Green State University and Miami University this weekend for two matches against perennial Mid-American Conference East Division favorites. Coach Dave Boos said he considers this weekend crucial for his Cardinals team that is 9-14 overall and 4-4 in MAC play after Tuesday's 3-0 sweep of IPFW.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: Injuries force team to cancel event

Because of injuries to key members of the Ball State University women's tennis team and the overall health of the team, coach Kathy Bull decided the team would not compete in the scheduled Intercollegiate Tennis Association Fall Regional this weekend. Bull made the decision earlier this week not to attend the tournament.

SWIMMING AND DIVING: Swimmer earns weekly conference award

Despite not winning an event in his last competition, a member of the Ball State University's men's swimming and diving team won a weekly conference award. Junior Austin Laska was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday. Laska finished second in the 50-yard freestyle at the Indiana Intercollegiates meet during the weekend with a time of 21.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cards avenge last year's loss to Mastodons

Last season, the Ball State University women's volleyball team was shutout by host IPFW in Fort Wayne. Tuesday night, however, the Cardinals were able to return the favor in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 26-24) victory against the Mastodons at Worthen Arena. "I don't like talking about last year a lot, so for me personally, tonight was pretty satisfying," coach Dave Boos said.

The "Chirper" application was created by student members of the Digital Corps, a group of media software experts at Ball State. Director of Digital Corps Jonathan Huer said the decision to create the application came from the Ball State football team's success.

BSU scrutinizes Health Center lot

A new sign for an old policy has left the Amelia T. Wood Health Center and Ball State University Police Department in disagreement about what the parking regulations should be for the clinic. Graduate student Pelagia Konstantinidis received a parking ticket for not having a valid permit when she parked in the lot behind the Health Center.
