The San Francisco 49ers cut veteran quarterback Damon Huard on Tuesday, clearing the way for former Ball State University quarterback Nate Davis to make the team. Davis is now the undisputed third string quarterback behind Shaun Hill and Alex Smith. Davis left school a year early to enter April's NFL Draft, when he was selected in the fifth round by San Francisco.
The Student United Way has planned another poverty simulation as a way for students to learn about and get involved in the community. The group collaborates with Teamwork for Quality Living in Indiana to raise awareness about poverty in Muncie, said Austin Gerber, president of the Student United Way.
Two weeks after students first moved in, DeHority Complex officially reopened during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday. Ball State President Jo Ann Gora cut the ribbon marking the official reopening of the complex at approximately 3:45 p.m. DeHority originally opened in 1960 as four all-women's halls.

Indiana American Water held a public hearing Monday at the Horizon Convention Center to discuss two improvement projects to be made to streets in Muncie this semester. Greg Gibson, construction manager for Indiana American Water, said during the meeting that the project consisted of replacing the 2-inch water duct main on North Street and University Avenue for 8-inch water ducts, which will supply a better flow to residents of the nearby neighborhoods.
Ball State University announced Monday that its student enrollment for the Fall Semester has increased about 4 percent from last year school.
Junior forward Hannah Jones was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Ball State University field hockey team to an undefeated weekend. Jones combined to score three goals in wins against Davidson College and Appalachian State University.

The Ball State University's opening football game Thursday against the University of North Texas is guaranteed to end with a bang. After the game, there will be a fireworks show. The minimum wage increase and national inflation rates have affected "little pockets" in students' budgets, as well as Ball State University's budget, one school official said. The Ball State University soccer team returns to campus after a weekend trip to Florida with two losses. The Cardinals opened their regular season last Friday against Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., and were defeated 5-1. Sunday, the team traveled to Boca Raton in a match against Florida Atlantic University and was defeated 3-0.
Within one weekend, the Ball State University field hockey team found a way to match its season win total from the 2008 season by racking up back-to-back wins. Ball State began its weekend by defeating Davidson College 2-1 on Saturday in North Carolina. This is the second straight year that Ball State has defeated Davidson, a win that last season counted for one of Ball State's two wins.
